American Spirit Builders (ASB) was founded by Lonnie Parker, a third-generation builder whose family has influenced commercial and industrial construction in Texas since 1968. Construction is not only Lonnie’s profession—it is his heritage, shaped by faith, work ethic, and a deep belief in the American spirit.

Our Heritage

The ASB story began with Lonnie’s grandfather, R.L. “Bob” Parker Sr., who founded Parker Electric in Palestine, Texas, before expanding into general contracting with the creation of Constructors of Palestine in 1978. Known for craftsmanship and integrity, his companies became trusted pillars in the community.

Bob Parker was more than a builder - he was an IFR-rated private pilot, a preacher, and a man who lived his life with conviction. Lonnie’s favorite memories are flying with his grandfather after Sunday church to Tyler, Texas, just to enjoy a burger and a Coke. These moments embedded values that still guide ASB today: faith, family, freedom, and service.

In 1980, Lonnie’s grandparents tragically passed away in a plane crash. At just 10 years old, Lonnie faced a loss that reshaped his life and strengthened the resolve that would carry him into adulthood.

From Tradesman to Builder

By age 15, Lonnie was working summers learning the electrical trade while many of his friends were at the lake. The discipline paid off: by the time he graduated high school in 1988, he had earned enough hours to sit for the municipal journeyman electrician exam—passing it before most of his peers entered college.

Over the next 37 years, Lonnie advanced into roles as Construction Superintendent and Project Manager, successfully delivering millions of dollars in commercial and industrial projects, including schools, industrial facilities, and large-scale developments. His career reflects the core belief that drives ASB today:
